Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public with empathy and professionalism.
  • Accurately gather critical information from callers to assess the nature and severity of the incident.
  • Provide clear, concise pre-arrival first aid instructions to callers, ensuring patient safety.
  • Prioritise and dispatch appropriate ambulance resources to incidents based on established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all calls and dispatched units in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Communicate effectively with ambulance crews, police, fire, and other emergency services as required.
  • Remain calm and composed under pressure, even in highly stressful and emotional situations.
  • Adhere to all SA Ambulance Service policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development programs.

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills with a clear and articulate speaking voice.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to quickly assimilate information.
  • High level of empathy and compassion, with the ability to remain calm and reassuring.

Preferred Qualifications
