Job Description
The Charleston Regional Development Alliance is seeking a passionate and driven Economic Development Corporation Intern to join our City Growth team. This entry-level internship provides an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the critical functions of regional economic development. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to projects that shape the future of the Charleston area. We are looking for individuals eager to learn about business attraction, retention, expansion, and community planning. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in data collection and analysis related to economic trends, market research, and industry sectors.
- Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and marketing materials for prospective businesses and partners.
- Conduct research on best practices in urban planning, sustainability, and talent development initiatives.
- Help organize and coordinate meetings, workshops, and community engagement events.
- Maintain and update databases of local businesses, properties, and economic indicators.
- Provide administrative support to the City Growth team as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude.
- Demonstrated interest in economic development, public policy, or urban planning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Business, Economics, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with GIS software or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus.
- Previous volunteer experience in community development or related fields.
