Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dialysis / Renal Nurse to join our growing team in Orlando, FL. This vital role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatments. You will manage patient care plans, administer medications, monitor treatment efficacy, and educate patients and their families on kidney disease management and dialysis procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established nursing standards and facility policies.
- Initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments, including machine set-up and troubleshooting.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments during dialysis, ensuring accurate dosage and timing.
- Monitor patients during dialysis for adverse reactions and complications, intervening as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and medication regimens.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, observations, and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and revise patient care plans.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida or eligible for endorsement.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care or medical-surgical setting.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment and critical thinking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong patient education and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN).
- Previous experience in dialysis, nephrology, or critical care nursing.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
