Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Decommissioning Specialist – Industrial to join our growing team. This role involves the meticulous planning, oversight, and execution of industrial decommissioning projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship. You will manage the safe and efficient removal or dismantling of industrial facilities, equipment, and infrastructure while adhering to strict regulatory requirements and environmental standards. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and on-site teams to ensure all phases of decommissioning are completed successfully and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive decommissioning plans, including scope definition, methodologies, risk assessments, and resource allocation.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and subcontractors.
- Supervise on-site decommissioning activities, including the dismantling, removal, and disposal of industrial assets.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for complex decommissioning challenges.
- Manage project documentation, including permits, licenses, work method statements, and close-out reports.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in decommissioning operations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and junior staff.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in industrial decommissioning, demolition, or heavy construction projects.
- Strong understanding of relevant Australian HSE legislation and environmental protection guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or specific industrial safety (e.g., confined space, working at heights).
- Experience with hazardous materials handling and disposal.
