Job Description
Join Sobeys Inc. as a Corporate Security & Risk Intern focused on Loss Prevention. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to gain hands-on experience in corporate security, risk management, and loss prevention strategies within a large retail environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the protection of company assets, preventing loss, and ensuring a safe shopping and working environment. This internship offers valuable exposure to various aspects of security operations, data analysis, and investigative support, providing a strong foundation for a career in corporate security or risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Loss Prevention team in identifying, investigating, and resolving incidents of theft, fraud, and other security breaches.
- Support data collection and analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas of vulnerability related to loss.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of loss prevention strategies and security protocols.
- Observe and document security procedures, making recommendations for improvements where applicable.
- Collaborate with store management and staff to promote security awareness and best practices.
- Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of security systems, including CCTV and access control.
- Participate in risk assessments and help prepare reports on security findings.
- Support administrative tasks related to incident reporting and documentation.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Criminology, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail environment (part-time or summer jobs are a plus).
- Basic understanding of security principles and loss prevention concepts.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools or techniques.
