Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team in Sudbury, Ontario. This critical role involves overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts for complex construction and technology projects, from inception through close-out. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of contract law, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to mitigate risks and ensure compliance. This position is open to international applicants, and visa sponsorship will be provided for the right candidate. You will be instrumental in managing legal and commercial aspects, supporting project teams, and safeguarding company interests on high-value projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer all aspects of project contracts, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing agreements with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and project specifications.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks, providing guidance to project teams on contract interpretation and dispute resolution.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of claims, variations, and change orders, negotiating terms to protect company interests.
- Maintain accurate and complete contract files and records, ensuring proper documentation of all contractual communications and actions.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, legal counsel, procurement, and finance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor contractor performance against contract terms and conditions, advising on corrective actions when necessary.
- Develop and implement contract management strategies to optimize project outcomes and financial performance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in contracts management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or technology sectors.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, legal terminology, and commercial terms and conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts and resolve disputes effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CCMP, CPCM, PMP).
- Experience with international contracts and cross-border project agreements.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to global project delivery.
- Familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, or other standard contract forms.
- Experience working with diverse project stakeholders.
