Job Description

Eversource Energy is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as City Power Grid Trainee / Lineman Apprentices. This is an unparalleled entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a critical infrastructure role, with full comprehensive training provided. No prior experience is necessary – we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a desire to learn. You will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing our city’s vital electrical grid, ensuring reliable power delivery to homes and businesses. This is a highly paid apprenticeship program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a certified Lineman, a profession essential to our modern world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with high-voltage equipment and in various environmental conditions.
  • Assist experienced Linemen with the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Participate actively in all training sessions, workshops, and classroom instruction.
  • Respond to power outages and emergencies as part of a crew, assisting in restoration efforts.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the electrical grid.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge required for progression through the apprenticeship program.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL permit or willingness to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive physical aptitude test and drug screening
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety as a top priority
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or coursework in electrical systems, construction, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work environment
  • First Aid/CPR certification
