Con Edison is seeking motivated individuals for our City Power Grid Trainee / Lineman Apprentice program in Mott Haven, Bronx. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the rigorous training program, both classroom and field-based.
- Learn and strictly adhere to all company safety rules, policies, and procedures for electrical work.
- Assist experienced Linemen with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines and equipment.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Perform physical tasks including climbing poles, lifting heavy equipment, and working in various weather conditions.
- Learn to identify and troubleshoot electrical system issues under direct supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and effective communication with crew members.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to comprehend and follow complex instructions and safety protocols.
- Physical fitness, including the ability to lift heavy objects, climb, and work at heights.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn a challenging trade.
- Commitment to working safely in a hazardous environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or coursework in electrical systems or a related field.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with tools and equipment.
- Experience working outdoors or in physically demanding roles.
- Residency within the local service area of the Bronx.
