Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and skilled City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic to join our Santa Rosa operations team. In this outdoor-focused role, you will be responsible for the daily maintenance, repair, and deployment of our electric bike fleet across the city. This hands-on position requires a keen eye for detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in various outdoor conditions to ensure our fleet is always safe and ready for riders. You will be a critical part of keeping Santa Rosa moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electric bikes in the field.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including brakes, tires, chains, and battery systems.
- Conduct battery swaps and manage charging logistics for the fleet.
- Relocate and redistribute bikes to optimize availability and balance across the city.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory changes accurately using a mobile application.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines during field operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and toolset.
- Provide feedback on recurring issues to improve fleet reliability and design.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical repair or maintenance (bikes, scooters, automotive, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in an outdoor environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency with smartphone applications for job tasks and reporting.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with bike share systems or electric bicycles.
- Familiarity with Santa Rosa's geography and street network.
- Certification in bicycle repair or automotive technology.
- Experience in a field service or mobile maintenance role.
