Job Description

Valero Energy Corporation is seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead our global marketing strategy from our Corpus Christi operations hub. This is a critical executive leadership role responsible for elevating Valero’s brand presence, driving market growth, and enhancing our reputation across all business segments, including refining, renewable fuels, and logistics. The CMO will be instrumental in shaping our narrative, engaging stakeholders, and supporting our strategic objectives through innovative and data-driven marketing initiatives. This role is open to global talent, with relocation and immigration support provided for exceptional candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global marketing strategy aligned with Valero's business objectives and growth targets.
  • Oversee all marketing functions, including brand management, digital marketing, public relations, corporate communications, market research, and content strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Drive brand awareness, perception, and loyalty across diverse audiences and geographical markets.
  • Utilize market insights and data analytics to identify new opportunities, optimize marketing campaigns, and measure ROI.
  • Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing impact.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, sales, investor relations, and other departments to ensure integrated strategies.
  • Oversee crisis communication and reputation management efforts.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscapes to maintain Valero's market leadership.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (VP of Marketing or higher).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful global marketing strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing, brand management, public relations, and corporate communications.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing large, diverse teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex, regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience in the energy, industrial, or commodities sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in international markets and global brand expansion.
  • Proficiency with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems.
