Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Charge Nurse / Ward Sister to join our dynamic nursing team in St. Petersburg, FL. This pivotal leadership role involves overseeing the daily operations of a designated ward, ensuring exceptional patient care, and providing guidance and support to nursing staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent leadership qualities, and a commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of registered nurses and support staff on a designated ward.
- Coordinate and manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Conduct regular ward rounds to assess patient needs, evaluate care plans, and address any concerns.
- Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Provide direct patient care as needed, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and critical thinking.
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
- Mentor and support junior staff, facilitating their professional development.
- Manage medication administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and other departments to ensure integrated patient care.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate intervention.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida or ability to obtain.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or Ward Sister.
- Experience in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting.
- Specialty certification relevant to the ward (e.g., Medical-Surgical, ICU).
