Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Carriage / Horse-Drawn Tour Driver to join our team in Hesperia. This unique role is perfect for individuals who possess a deep love for animals, excellent customer service skills, and a desire to share the beauty and stories of Hesperia from a historical perspective. You will be responsible for safely operating horse-drawn carriages, providing engaging commentary, and ensuring the well-being of our magnificent horses. This is a hands-on position that combines driving, animal care, and public interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate horse-drawn carriages along designated tour routes in Hesperia.
  • Provide informative, entertaining, and engaging commentary about local history, landmarks, and points of interest to passengers.
  • Ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of all passengers throughout the tour.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of horses, carriages, and harness equipment.
  • Perform basic daily care for horses, including feeding, watering, grooming, and mucking stalls.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable appearance for both the horses and the carriage.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and animal welfare guidelines.
  • Assist with passenger boarding and disembarking, ensuring accessibility and safety for all.
  • Handle customer inquiries and provide exceptional service with a friendly and professional demeanor.

Required Skills

  • Valid US Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrable experience and comfort working with large animals, specifically horses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with the Hesperia area or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods).
  • Commitment to animal welfare and ethical handling practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a tourism, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Knowledge of local history, flora, and fauna of the Hesperia area.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience in horse training or stable management.
