Job Description
We are looking for a diligent and safety-conscious Cardboard Baler Operator to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity as comprehensive paid training will be provided. You will be responsible for operating baling equipment to compress recyclable cardboard and other materials, ensuring a clean and organized work area, and adhering to all safety protocols. This role is crucial for our waste management efforts and contributes to our operational efficiency and sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a cardboard baling machine to compress recyclable materials according to established procedures.
- Sort and organize various types of waste, primarily cardboard, for proper processing.
- Load and unload baled materials onto pallets or into designated storage areas.
- Perform routine visual inspections of the baler and report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, including the baler area and surrounding workspace.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with general warehouse duties as required, contributing to overall team productivity.
- Follow all instructions and directives from supervisors and team leads.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required; comprehensive paid training provided.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Basic physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to punctuality and reliability.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with a warehouse or production environment is considered an asset, but not required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for simple equipment handling (e.g., clearing minor jams) is a plus.
