Job Description
Are you passionate about craft beer and eager to learn the art and science of brewing from the ground up? Little Creatures Brewery is offering an unparalleled Brewmaster Intern – Craft Brewery Mentorship opportunity in Geelong. This is a hands-on, entry-level position designed for individuals with immense enthusiasm and a strong desire to master the craft of brewing. Under the direct guidance of our experienced Brewmasters, you will gain comprehensive knowledge across all facets of brewery operations, from raw materials to fermentation, packaging, and quality control. No prior brewing experience is required; we provide full training and a supportive environment for your professional growth. This mentorship is your chance to turn your passion into a profession within a leading Australian craft brewery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Brewmasters with daily brewing operations, including mashing, lautering, boiling, and transferring beer.
- Performing meticulous cleaning and sanitization of brewing equipment, tanks, and work areas.
- Monitoring fermentation processes and recording data accurately.
- Assisting with yeast management and propagation.
- Supporting packaging operations, including kegging, bottling, and canning.
- Conducting basic quality control tests on raw materials, wort, and finished beer.
- Learning and adhering to all safety, hygiene, and environmental protocols.
- Assisting with inventory management of brewing ingredients and supplies.
- Engaging actively in learning sessions and asking questions to deepen understanding.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for craft beer and the brewing industry.
- Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (e.g., grain bags).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and hygiene protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of the brewing process (e.g., homebrewing experience).
- Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Tertiary education in a related scientific field (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry) is a plus, but not essential.
