Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Aviation & Flight Operations Intern to join our corporate office team in Pittsburgh. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and a foundational understanding of airline flight operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning within a major airline environment. You will support various projects and daily activities, working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to critical aviation functions. This is an entry-level position designed for students eager to learn and grow within the aviation industry, with full training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to flight performance, punctuality, and operational efficiency.
- Support the preparation of operational briefings, presentations, and reports for flight operations management.
- Learn about and assist with the interpretation of aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, ICAO) and company policies.
- Participate in projects aimed at improving operational processes, safety protocols, and flight crew scheduling.
- Shadow professionals in various flight operations departments, including dispatch, crew management, and operational control.
- Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging technologies in aviation.
- Help organize and maintain operational documentation and records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special assignments as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the airline industry and flight operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to commit to the duration of the internship program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with aviation terminology and concepts.
- Previous coursework or projects related to aviation safety, operations, or logistics.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
