Job Description
We are seeking empathetic and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as an ATO Tax Help Assistant for the upcoming tax season. This seasonal, on-site role is an exceptional opportunity to provide free, confidential, and vital tax return assistance to eligible community members in Victor Harbor and surrounding areas. Full, comprehensive training will be provided by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), ensuring you are fully equipped to assist clients effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Assist eligible clients with the preparation and electronic lodgement of their basic income tax returns.
- Verify client identification and necessary documentation according to ATO guidelines.
- Provide clear and concise information about the ATO Tax Help program and its limitations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and personal data.
- Adhere to all ATO policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines for tax assistance.
- Support Tax Help volunteers and program coordinators as needed.
- Ensure a friendly, respectful, and professional environment for all community members seeking assistance.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with standard office software.
- Strong ethical compass and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

- Ability to learn new procedures and program guidelines quickly.
- Eligibility to obtain a successful National Police Check and Working With Children Check.
