Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Agronomist / Crop Scientist to join our dynamic team in Mississauga, Ontario. This pivotal role involves applying scientific principles to enhance crop yield, quality, and sustainability for our diverse agricultural clients. You will be instrumental in conducting field research, analyzing data, and providing expert advice on soil health, nutrient management, pest control, and crop production strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and oversee field trials and research projects to evaluate crop performance, fertilizer efficacy, and pest management solutions.
- Collect and analyze complex agricultural data, including soil samples, plant tissue analysis, and yield data, to provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop and implement integrated crop management plans tailored to specific client needs and regional conditions.
- Provide expert agronomic consultation and technical support to growers, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest agricultural technologies, research findings, and industry trends.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on research findings and recommendations.
- Promote sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on various research and development initiatives.
- Train and mentor junior agronomists and field staff as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in conducting agricultural field trials and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of soil science, plant nutrition, crop physiology, and pest management principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently to field sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional agronomist certification (e.g., CCA – Certified Crop Adviser).
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, variable rate technology).
- Familiarity with agricultural practices and crop types prevalent in Canadian agriculture.
- Experience working with diverse agricultural commodities.
