Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Acoustic Engineer to join our innovative engineering team in Elgin, Illinois. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced acoustic solutions for our diverse product portfolio. The successful candidate will apply principles of acoustics and vibration to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize product performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute acoustic and vibration testing protocols for new and existing products.
- Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.
- Utilize acoustic simulation software (e.g., FEA, BEM, SEA) to model and predict product performance.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, materials) to integrate acoustic considerations into product design.
- Identify root causes of noise and vibration issues and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the development of new testing methodologies and improve existing processes.
- Ensure products comply with relevant acoustic and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and expertise to manufacturing and quality assurance teams.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of acoustic and vibration theory, signal processing, and measurement techniques.
- Proficiency with acoustic measurement equipment and data acquisition systems (e.g., Brüel & Kjær, Siemens LMS, NI).
- Experience with acoustic simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, VA One).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Acoustics or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in the automotive, appliance, HVAC, or industrial equipment sectors.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards related to noise control (e.g., ISO, SAE, ANSI).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Experience with product development lifecycle from concept to production.
