Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Risk Management Director to join our team in Moncton, New Brunswick. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing our enterprise risk management framework, ensuring robust identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of risks across various business lines. This position is explicitly designated as ‘Sponsorship Supported,’ indicating our commitment to assisting qualified international candidates with the necessary work permit or visa sponsorship to join our Canadian operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financial risk disciplines, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in developing and implementing effective risk strategies within a complex financial institution. You will lead a team of risk professionals, collaborate with senior leadership, and contribute significantly to our strategic planning and regulatory compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the enterprise-wide risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of all significant risks (e.g., credit, market, operational, reputational, compliance) affecting the organization.
- Provide expert guidance and strategic insights to senior management and the Board on emerging risk issues and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the development and execution of stress testing scenarios and capital adequacy assessments.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices for risk management.
- Foster a strong risk culture throughout the organization through training, communication, and leadership.
- Manage and mentor a team of risk professionals, fostering their development and ensuring high performance.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in risk management within the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., OSFI, Basel) relevant to Canadian financial institutions.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving risk landscape.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
- Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or PRM (Professional Risk Manager).
- Experience with advanced risk analytics and modeling tools.
- Familiarity with the Canadian financial market and regulatory environment.
