Job Description
Are you passionate about animals and looking to start your career in veterinary care? Greencross Vets Fremantle is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Veterinary Helper for casual day shifts. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to learn and contribute to a busy clinic environment. You will support our veterinary team in various capacities, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our animal patients and maintaining a clean and organised facility. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with no prior veterinary experience to gain valuable skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint and handling during examinations and procedures.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms, surgical areas, and patient wards.
- Feed, water, and walk hospitalised animals as directed, monitoring their behaviour and reporting any changes.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the clinic, including laundry duties.
- Sterilise surgical instruments and equipment.
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Provide compassionate care and comfort to all animal patients.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks and client communication as needed.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and a love for animals.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to handle animals, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in customer service or a related field.
- Completion of a Certificate II in Animal Studies or similar (though not required, it's a plus).
- Availability to work flexible day shifts, including weekends if necessary.
