Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic High Energy Physics & Particle Accelerator Intern to join our cutting-edge research teams. This internship offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of high energy physics and particle accelerator technology. Under the guidance of experienced scientists and engineers, you will contribute to ongoing projects related to particle detection, data analysis, accelerator development, and experimental setup. This is an entry-level position designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship, fostering your growth in a dynamic research environment. No prior professional experience in these specific areas is required; a strong academic foundation and a keen interest in fundamental physics are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of experimental equipment, including particle detectors and accelerator components.
- Participate in data acquisition, processing, and preliminary analysis under supervision.
- Contribute to the development and testing of simulation models for particle interactions and accelerator performance.
- Help prepare technical documentation, presentations, and reports detailing research findings.
- Engage in literature reviews to support ongoing research projects.
- Attend scientific seminars, workshops, and group meetings to enhance understanding of current research topics.
- Collaborate with team members on various aspects of high energy physics experiments.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific/engineering field.
- Strong academic record with foundational knowledge in classical mechanics, electromagnetism, and modern physics.
- Proficiency in basic data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and contributing to scientific research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coursework or projects related to quantum mechanics, particle physics, or accelerator physics.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with CAD software or circuit design.
