Job Description
Are you eager to start a career in hospitality but have no prior experience? Rydges Port Macquarie is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our front-of-house team as Waitstaff. This is an incredible opportunity for a motivated learner, as we provide comprehensive, full-service training from day one. You’ll gain valuable skills in customer service, food and beverage service, and learn the ins and outs of a bustling hotel restaurant and bar environment. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and greet guests warmly upon arrival, seating them appropriately
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and answer questions about food and beverages
- Take accurate food and drink orders using our POS system
- Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently to tables
- Anticipate guest needs and provide excellent, attentive service
- Clear tables and reset for new guests
- Assist with general restaurant cleanliness and organisation
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Process payments and handle cash/card transactions accurately
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards
Required Skills
- No prior waitstaff or hospitality experience required – full training provided!
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for providing outstanding customer service
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Reliability and punctuality
- Willingness to learn and adapt quickly
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene (training provided if none)
- RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate, or willingness to obtain one upon employment
