Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Trade Commission Assistant to join our International Relations team in Lismore. This pivotal role involves providing essential support to our trade specialists and contributing to the smooth operation of international trade initiatives. You will be instrumental in managing administrative tasks, conducting research, and assisting with various projects aimed at strengthening our global partnerships and trade facilitation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the International Relations team, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing materials related to international trade policies and market trends.
- Conduct research on specific trade agreements, country profiles, and regulatory requirements to support strategic decision-making.
- Liaise with internal departments, external stakeholders, and international partners to facilitate communication and information exchange.
- Organise and coordinate meetings, events, and visits for trade delegations or international representatives.
- Maintain and update databases and records pertaining to international trade contacts and projects.
- Support the team in monitoring global economic developments and their potential impact on trade relations.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to conduct thorough research and present findings clearly and concisely
- Proven administrative experience in a professional office environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Business, Economics, Political Science, or a related field
- Previous experience (1-2 years) in international trade, government relations, or a financial services environment
- Knowledge of current international trade policies and global economic affairs
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to key Australian trading partners (e.g., Mandarin, Japanese, Indonesian)
