Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health Physician to join our corporate health team in Parramatta. This is a crucial full-time role, operating Monday to Friday, focused on providing expert medical advice and services to support the health, safety, and well-being of our employees. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing occupational health strategies, managing complex medical cases, and ensuring compliance with health regulations within a large corporate setting. You will work autonomously while being an integral part of our broader HR and WHS functions, contributing directly to employee productivity and overall organisational health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert occupational health advice to management and employees on a wide range of issues, including fitness for work, return-to-work programs, and workplace adjustments.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, health surveillance, and pre-employment medicals.
  • Manage complex occupational health cases, including injury and illness management, and provide guidance on rehabilitation strategies.
  • Develop and implement health promotion and wellness programs across the organisation.
  • Advise on occupational health risks and their prevention, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
  • Liaise with external medical specialists, rehabilitation providers, and government agencies as required.
  • Participate in incident investigations and provide medical input on causation and prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with professional and legal standards.

Required Skills

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
  • Specialist qualification in Occupational Medicine (e.g., FAFOEM or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-specialisation experience as an Occupational Health Physician, preferably within a corporate or large organisational setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex occupational health cases, including injury management and rehabilitation.
  • Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, workers' compensation schemes, and relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial services industry or a similar professional services environment.
  • Additional qualifications in Public Health, Health Management, or related fields.
  • Experience with health informatics systems and data analysis for occupational health trends.
