Job Description

The London Transit Commission is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as City Bus Drivers. This is an incredible opportunity for a Trainee; no prior bus driving experience is required! We provide comprehensive, paid training to help you obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (Class B or C with Z endorsement) and equip you with all the skills needed to confidently and safely operate a city bus. As a City Bus Driver, you will be the face of LTC, providing essential transportation services, ensuring passenger safety, and helping thousands of Londoners get where they need to go. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit buses on assigned routes according to published schedules and transit regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with information, fares, and accessibility needs.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical defects or issues.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and accurately maintain passenger counts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other transit personnel.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Respond to emergencies or incidents in a calm and professional manner.
Required Skills
- Must possess a valid Ontario G class driver's license with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years.
- Ability to obtain a Class B or C driver's license with a Z air brake endorsement (training provided).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and following established procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Punctual and reliable with a flexible approach to working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to complete all required training successfully.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with the city of London and its road network.
