Job Description
Are you a driven engineering student looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in major road and civil infrastructure projects? CPB Contractors is offering an exciting Site Engineer Intern placement in Fremantle, Western Australia. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real-world projects, and develop essential skills in a dynamic construction environment. You will gain exposure to all phases of project delivery, from planning and design review to site supervision and quality assurance, specifically within our road and civil works divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist site engineers with daily project tasks, including site inspections, progress monitoring, and reporting.
- Support the preparation and review of project documentation, such as method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and daily diaries.
- Learn to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Participate in site safety briefings and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Help with the coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel.
- Assist in quality control procedures and ensure compliance with project standards.
- Conduct basic data collection and analysis related to site activities and progress.
- Undertake ad-hoc tasks as directed by senior site engineers to support project delivery.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic record and a genuine interest in civil infrastructure and road construction.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Eagerness to learn, proactive attitude, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous involvement in university projects or extracurricular activities related to civil engineering.
- Basic familiarity with AutoCAD or other engineering software.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card).
