Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically strong Retaining Wall Block Carrier to join our hardscaping team. This is a demanding, hands-on role critical to the success of our projects, primarily involving the manual handling and placement of heavy retaining wall blocks and other landscaping materials. While specific experience in hardscaping is not a prerequisite, a strong work ethic, reliability, and excellent physical stamina are absolutely essential. Full on-the-job training will be provided to ensure you understand our material handling techniques, safety protocols, and construction processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely lift, carry, and precisely place heavy retaining wall blocks (up to 80+ lbs) according to project plans and supervisor instructions.
- Transport various hardscaping materials, including pavers, gravel, sand, and stone, across diverse job site terrains.
- Assist in job site preparation tasks such as digging trenches, grading areas, and clearing debris.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the day.
- Operate basic hand tools and potentially power tools under direct supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient project completion.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical strength, endurance, and stamina to perform strenuous tasks repeatedly.
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy objects (80+ lbs) for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to job sites located in and around the Fresno, CA area.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic understanding of job site safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or a similarly physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with construction site safety practices and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic landscaping plans or diagrams.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
