Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Regulatory Compliance Officer specializing in Consumer Affairs to join our dynamic team in Downtown Portland, OR. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring U.S. Bank’s adherence to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to consumer financial protection. You will play a key part in monitoring regulatory changes, assessing their impact on our products and services, and developing strategies to maintain a compliant operating environment. This position requires a thorough understanding of consumer protection laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze new and evolving consumer protection laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP).
  • Assess the impact of regulatory changes on existing products, services, and operational processes, specifically within consumer banking.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training programs related to consumer affairs.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk, audit, and business line teams to ensure integrated compliance efforts.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Respond to and manage regulatory inquiries and examinations concerning consumer protection.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units on compliance matters impacting consumer interactions and offerings.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related role within the financial services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. consumer financial protection laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, UDAAP).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or other relevant compliance certification.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or Master's degree.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies (e.g., CFPB, OCC, FRB).
  • Project management experience in implementing compliance initiatives.
