Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Laundry Sorter to join our industrial laundry facility in Belconnen. This is a routine, hands-on role perfect for individuals who are organised, have a strong work ethic, and are comfortable in a fast-paced environment. No prior experience in laundry or industrial settings is required; full training will be provided to the successful candidate. Your primary responsibility will be to sort incoming soiled linen and uniforms efficiently and accurately, preparing them for the washing process. This role is integral to our operations, ensuring a smooth flow of textiles through our processing plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming soiled linen and uniforms from various collection points.
- Efficiently sort textiles by type, colour, fabric, and degree of soiling according to established procedures.
- Inspect items for foreign objects, damage, or specific handling instructions.
- Load sorted items into designated carts or conveyor systems for transport to washing machines.
- Maintain a clean and organised sorting area, adhering to all hygiene and safety standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or significant discrepancies to supervisory staff.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure daily production targets are met.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and workplace regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Good physical stamina and ability to stand, lift (up to 15kg), and bend for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
