Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Façade Engineer to join our dynamic team in Charleston, SC. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to groundbreaking projects, specializing in building envelope design and performance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative and sustainable façade solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. This position involves technical analysis, design review, and collaboration with architects and other engineering disciplines to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and aesthetics. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis and design of building façades, including curtain walls, window systems, cladding, and roofing.
- Develop performance specifications, design criteria, and testing protocols for façade systems.
- Conduct thermal, structural, and acoustic analysis of façade components.
- Review architectural drawings and specifications for façade constructability and compliance with codes and standards.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Participate in site visits during construction to review façade installation and quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, materials, and technologies related to façade engineering.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in façade engineering or building envelope consulting.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, FEA software).
- Strong understanding of building physics, thermodynamics, and structural mechanics.
- Knowledge of national and international building codes and standards related to façades.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Façade Engineering or a related specialized field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with advanced simulation tools for façade performance analysis (e.g., thermal bridging, daylighting).
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL).
- Experience in forensic investigation of façade failures or performance issues.
