Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Crossing Guard Supervisor to oversee the operations and personnel of our school crossing guard program. This vital role involves managing a team of crossing guards, ensuring pedestrian safety around schools, and collaborating with local authorities and school administrations to maintain a secure environment for students. The supervisor will be responsible for scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and adherence to safety protocols. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of school crossing guards, including scheduling, deployment, and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct regular site visits to school crossing locations to observe operations and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training and guidance to crossing guards on traffic management, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve public inquiries, complaints, and incidents related to crossing guard services.
  • Collaborate with school officials, police departments, and community groups to address safety concerns and improve program effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, training, and equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment and signage are in good working order and report maintenance needs.
  • Develop and implement emergency plans for various scenarios at crossing locations.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to enforce rules and procedures effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of traffic safety principles and pedestrian regulations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a school crossing guard or in a similar public safety role.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and youth.
