Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Bioinformatician to join our dynamic research lab. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research environment. You will work closely with senior researchers and bioinformaticians, supporting various projects focused on genomic and proteomic data analysis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about applying computational methods to biological questions and eager to learn new tools and techniques in a supportive team setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics.
- Develop and maintain scripts and pipelines for data processing and visualization under guidance.
- Support researchers in interpreting bioinformatics results and preparing figures for publications.
- Contribute to the documentation of bioinformatics workflows and protocols.
- Participate in regular lab meetings and scientific discussions.
- Stay updated with the latest bioinformatics tools and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology with a strong computational focus, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of molecular biology and genetics.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, R).
- Familiarity with the Linux command line environment.
- Basic understanding of statistical concepts applied to biological data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Bioinformatics or a closely related field.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Previous experience working with next-generation sequencing data.
- Understanding of database querying (e.g., SQL).
