Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and physically fit individuals to join our team as a Roofing Labourer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is looking to start a career in the construction industry. No prior roofing experience is required, as full training and mentorship will be provided. You will play a crucial role in assisting our skilled roofers, ensuring sites are safe, and contributing to the successful completion of roofing projects across the Cairns region. Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be supplied to ensure your safety on the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced roofers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of various roofing systems.
- Safely load and unload roofing materials and equipment onto trucks and job sites.
- Prepare work areas by setting up scaffolding, safety barriers, and securing the perimeter.
- Perform general site clean-up, including debris removal and organisation of tools.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures diligently.
- Learn and apply roofing techniques under supervision.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Communicate effectively with team members and site supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, 'can-do' attitude.
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to team success.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Basic understanding of safety principles (training provided).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current White Card (Construction Induction Card) – can be obtained upon employment.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Any prior experience in a manual labour role is a bonus but not essential.
