Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Watchmaker to join our prestigious service centre in Parramatta. This role involves the meticulous repair, servicing, and restoration of luxury timepieces from leading global brands. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex watch movements, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for horology. You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs meet the exacting standards of our luxury brands and The Hour Glass’s commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing and fault-finding on a wide range of mechanical and quartz movements.
- Execute full overhauls, repairs, and restorations of luxury watches according to brand specifications and quality guidelines.
- Disassemble, clean, lubricate, assemble, and regulate movements with precision.
- Replace components as necessary, using authentic parts and specialized tools.
- Conduct final quality control checks, including water resistance testing and aesthetic inspection.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Accurately document all work performed and parts used.
- Collaborate with the service team to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
- Provide technical expertise and support to front-of-house staff as required.
Required Skills
- Formal watchmaking qualification from a recognised institution (e.g., WOSTEP, BHI, CW21).
- Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience working with luxury watch brands.
- Proficiency in overhauling and repairing a diverse range of mechanical (manual and automatic) and quartz movements.
- Exceptional manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
- Proficiency with specialised watchmaking tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Brand-specific certifications from major luxury watch manufacturers.
- Experience with advanced complications (e.g., chronographs, perpetual calendars, tourbillons).
- Prior experience in a luxury retail service environment.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to our international clientele.
