Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Literacy / Numeracy Specialist to join our academic team. This vital role involves providing targeted support to students across various year levels, ensuring they develop foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students to create engaging and effective learning strategies that cater to diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' literacy and numeracy strengths and areas for development.
  • Design and implement individualized and small-group intervention programs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy and numeracy strategies into daily instruction.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide professional development and coaching to staff on best practices in literacy and numeracy instruction.
  • Develop and adapt learning materials to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Liaise with parents/guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with a specialization in Literacy, Numeracy, or a related field.
  • Current teacher registration in Tasmania (or eligibility).
  • Proven experience in delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions.
  • Strong understanding of child development and diverse learning styles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in educational assessment tools and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education, Literacy, or Numeracy.
  • Experience with specific intervention programs (e.g., MultiLit, MacqLit, EMU).
  • Knowledge of current research and trends in literacy and numeracy education.
  • Experience working in an independent school setting.
