Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organized Laundry Sorter to join our hotel services team in Cork. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who are reliable, have a keen eye for detail, and are looking for regular, stable work in a supportive environment. As a Laundry Sorter, you will be an integral part of ensuring our hotel operates smoothly by managing the flow of linens and textiles, contributing directly to the comfort and satisfaction of our guests. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort dirty laundry items (linens, towels, uniforms, etc.) by type, color, and degree of soiling.
- Inspect items for damage, stains, or missing articles before processing.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, including industrial washing machines and dryers, after receiving training.
- Load and unload laundry machines, ensuring proper weight and cycle selection.
- Fold, iron, and stack clean linens according to hotel standards.
- Organize and transport clean linens to various departments within the hotel.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry area, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the supervisor.
- Assist with inventory counts of linens and laundry supplies as required.
- Collaborate effectively with other members of the hotel operations team.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify different types of fabrics and stains.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Reliability and punctuality for regular shifts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, laundry, or similar service environment is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workplace setting.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
