Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solution Designer with a strong focus on IT Infrastructure to join our dynamic team in Werribee. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions that meet Telstra’s evolving business needs. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive IT infrastructure solutions aligned with business strategies and architectural guidelines.
- Translate complex business requirements into detailed technical specifications and design documents.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, security specialists, network engineers, and operations teams to ensure holistic solution integration.
- Evaluate new technologies and trends to identify opportunities for infrastructure enhancement and optimization.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, from conception to deployment.
- Ensure solutions adhere to industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in technical reviews and provide constructive feedback on designs and implementations.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all designed solutions, including diagrams, specifications, and operational procedures.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT solution design, with a strong focus on infrastructure.
- Proficiency in designing solutions across various infrastructure domains: networking, servers, storage, virtualisation, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security principles (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices in infrastructure design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- ITIL certification or strong understanding of IT service management principles.
- Experience with DevOps methodologies and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Prior experience in the telecommunications industry.
