Job Description

Are you passionate about making the world a more inclusive place? Midwest Accessibility Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Braille Transcription & Accessibility Intern to join our team in Wichita, Kansas. This is an entry-level internship designed for individuals eager to learn and contribute to meaningful accessibility initiatives. No prior experience in braille transcription or accessibility is required; we provide comprehensive training and mentorship to equip you with the skills needed to succeed. You will play a vital role in converting various materials into accessible formats, ensuring that information is readily available to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive comprehensive training in Braille transcription software and techniques.
  • Assist in the transcription of documents, educational materials, and digital content into Braille.
  • Learn and apply accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) to digital content.
  • Support the team in reviewing and testing accessible materials for accuracy and usability.
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving overall accessibility for our clients.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals to understand best practices in accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Maintain organized records of transcribed materials and project progress.
  • Contribute to internal discussions on accessibility challenges and solutions.
