Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Manufacturing / Production Engineer to join our dynamic team in Barrie, Ontario. This role is crucial for optimizing our production processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying areas for improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and collaborating with various departments to achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, and layouts to improve production flow and efficiency.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Monitor production performance, analyze data, and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless product introduction and ongoing process stability.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in root cause analysis for production failures and implement sustainable solutions.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems.
- Evaluate new technologies and materials for potential integration into production processes.
- Provide technical support and training to production personnel.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with process documentation and control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 quality management system
- Project management experience
