Job Description
Are you ready to learn a valuable, highly sought-after trade with excellent career prospects? Albertsons is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Meat Processing / Butcher’s Apprentice. No prior experience is required – we are looking for dedicated individuals eager to learn the art and science of butchery and meat cutting from seasoned professionals. This apprenticeship will provide comprehensive hands-on training in all aspects of meat processing, safety, sanitation, and customer service, setting you on a path to a highly paid and stable career. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Casper location, where you will become an integral part of our fresh foods department.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and master various meat cutting techniques under the guidance of experienced butchers.
- Assist with the preparation and display of meat products in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Operate and maintain meat processing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions and assisting with special requests.
- Monitor inventory and assist with stocking and rotating meat products.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and food handling.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness and eagerness to learn a new trade.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of mathematics (e.g., weights, measurements).
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in varied temperatures (refrigerated areas).
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a retail, food service, or manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.
- A genuine interest in food preparation and quality meat products.
- Reliable transportation to and from our Casper location.
