Job Description
Join our team at Indigo Books & Music as a Bookstore Display Stacker. This role is crucial for maintaining the visual appeal and stock levels of our store. You will be responsible for moving, organizing, and stacking books and other merchandise, often involving heavy lifting. We value a quiet, focused approach to work, ensuring our customers and colleagues can enjoy a serene environment. This is an entry-level position; full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates reliability and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unpack incoming merchandise shipments, primarily books.
- Safely and efficiently move heavy boxes and bundles of products to storage areas and sales floors.
- Organize and stack books and other items according to store layout, planograms, and display guidelines.
- Maintain tidy and visually appealing displays, ensuring shelves are well-stocked and front-faced.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed.
- Operate pallet jacks or other manual lifting equipment safely (training provided).
- Adhere to all safety protocols and store policies.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a quiet, focused manner.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Physical stamina and capability for standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic communication skills.
- Comfort working in a quiet, focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with bookstore operations or a passion for books.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
