Job Description

Intel is seeking a motivated and curious Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering Intern to join our Smart Devices team in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of IoT device prototypes and components.
  • Support the integration of sensors, actuators, and communication modules into smart device platforms.
  • Contribute to the development and debugging of embedded software for IoT applications.
  • Conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results to evaluate device performance and reliability.
  • Document technical specifications, test procedures, and project progress.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on various phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Research emerging IoT technologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Perform basic hardware assembly and soldering tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as C/C++ or Python.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic circuits and components.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen interest in learning new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with personal IoT projects or academic projects involving smart devices.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or LoRa.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT) for data ingestion and management.
  • Experience with CAD software for hardware design.
