Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Paper Mill Pulper Helper to join our heavy industrial team in Durham, NC. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals eager to start a career in the manufacturing sector. As a Pulper Helper, you will be crucial in supporting the pulping process, ensuring the smooth flow of materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role involves physical labor, operating industrial equipment, and working rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided to all successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior operators in loading raw materials (e.g., recycled paper, wood pulp) into pulping machinery.
- Monitor equipment during operation and report any malfunctions or irregularities immediately.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of pulpers, conveyors, and work areas.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery to move materials as required (training provided).
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Support the general production process as needed, including material handling and stacking.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Prepare and stage materials for upcoming shifts and production runs.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in varied temperatures.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all industrial safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial equipment operation.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for rotating shift schedules (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience operating a forklift or other heavy equipment (certification a plus).
- Basic understanding of pulp and paper making processes.
- Comfortable working with machinery in a noisy industrial environment.
