Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Gemologist / Diamond Grader to join our expert team in Pasadena. This pivotal role involves the precise grading and authentication of diamonds and colored gemstones in accordance with international standards. As a Gemologist / Diamond Grader, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and value of our collection, providing expert analysis, and contributing to our reputation for unparalleled quality. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grading of polished diamonds using GIA standards (4Cs: Carat, Cut, Clarity, Color).
- Identify and grade various colored gemstones, including origin and treatment detection.
- Operate and maintain gemological instruments such as microscopes, refractometers, spectroscopes, and polariscopes.
- Prepare detailed grading reports and certifications.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in all grading and evaluation processes.
- Collaborate with sales and procurement teams to provide expert insights on gemological characteristics.
- Adhere to strict ethical guidelines and industry best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with gemological advancements.
Required Skills
- Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma from GIA or equivalent recognized institution.
- Proficiency in diamond grading fundamentals (4Cs) and clarity plotting.
- Familiarity with various gemological testing equipment and techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work meticulously for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A strong commitment to ethical practices and integrity in gemology.
- Eligibility for international sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of practical experience in a diamond grading laboratory or high-end jewelry environment.
- Experience with colored gemstone identification and grading.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
