Job Description
As a Pet Food Store Nutritional Advisor, you will be the go-to expert for pet parents seeking advice on optimal nutrition for their beloved companions. This role combines your passion for pets with strong retail sales skills, guiding customers through our diverse product offerings. You will provide personalized recommendations, educate on ingredients, and ensure every pet parent leaves with the knowledge and products to support their pet’s health and happiness. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic about pet wellness and eager to provide exceptional service in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their pet's dietary needs and health concerns.
- Provide expert advice on pet nutrition, ingredients, and product benefits.
- Recommend appropriate pet food, supplements, and treats based on individual pet requirements.
- Achieve sales targets by effectively presenting and selling nutritional solutions.
- Maintain a tidy, well-stocked, and informative pet food section.
- Stay updated on pet nutrition trends, new products, and industry developments.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the point of sale.
- Assist with general store operations, including inventory and merchandising.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service (minimum 1 year).
- Demonstrated passion for pets and animal welfare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn and retain detailed product knowledge, especially in pet nutrition.
- Strong problem-solving and consultative selling abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency for POS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education or certification in animal nutrition or veterinary assisting.
- Prior experience working in a pet store or related animal care environment.
- Knowledge of various pet food brands and dietary specializations (e.g., grain-free, limited ingredient, raw).
