Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Metallurgy & Foundry Intern to join our heavy industry team in Brandon, Florida. This internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in metallurgical processes, foundry operations, and materials science within a leading global manufacturing environment. You will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians on real-world projects, contributing to the development and optimization of materials and manufacturing techniques for heavy equipment components. This is an entry-level position designed for students eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, with full training provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in analyzing material properties and performance of metal components.
  • Participate in foundry process monitoring, data collection, and analysis.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control measures for cast materials.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests, including metallography, hardness testing, and mechanical property evaluation.
  • Help troubleshoot metallurgical issues related to casting defects and material failures.
  • Contribute to research projects focused on new material development or process improvement.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing experimental results and project findings.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations within the manufacturing and lab environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental metallurgical principles and materials science.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous academic project experience related to casting, heat treatment, or material characterization.
  • Familiarity with CAD software or simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
