Job Description
Are you passionate about the environment and eager to kickstart a career in water management? Sydney Water is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for an Entry Level Water Conservation Surveyor role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with no prior experience to join a vital team, learn valuable skills, and contribute to critical water conservation efforts. Full training will be provided to ensure your success. This role involves significant field work across various sites within our service region, focusing on identifying and documenting water usage and potential conservation opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting field surveys to identify water leaks, inefficiencies, and non-compliant water usage practices.
- Operating and maintaining basic field equipment for data collection and leak detection.
- Recording accurate data and observations using digital tools and reporting systems.
- Interacting respectfully with property owners, businesses, and the general public during surveys.
- Following all safety protocols and procedures while working in the field.
- Assisting with the implementation of water conservation strategies and initiatives.
- Contributing to team meetings and providing feedback on field findings.
Required Skills
- Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Valid Australian Driver's License (manual highly regarded).
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
- A keen interest in environmental science, sustainability, or water management.
- Previous experience in outdoor work, even if not directly related.
- Basic understanding of mapping or GPS technology.
