Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Stairwell Sweeper & Mopper to join our team in Oakland, CA. This essential role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of stairwells within various commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to perform physically demanding tasks consistently. Full training will be provided, but a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of all stairwells, landings, and handrails in assigned commercial buildings.
- Dust and wipe down baseboards, window sills, and other surfaces in stairwell areas.
- Remove cobwebs, debris, and trash from stairwells and dispose of them properly.
- Clean and polish metal fixtures and emergency exit signage in stairwells.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards observed in stairwells to supervision.
- Ensure proper use of cleaning solutions and equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in good condition and report needs for replenishment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and climbing stairs for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality cleaning results.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic understanding of cleaning methods and safety practices.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial or commercial cleaning roles is a plus.
- Familiarity with various cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
