Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Traffic Warden / Control Officer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity for independent work while making a tangible difference in our community by ensuring fair and consistent application of parking ordinances. As a key member of our public safety infrastructure, you will patrol assigned areas, educate the public on parking regulations, and enforce city codes. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle to monitor parking compliance.
- Identify and document parking violations according to city ordinances.
- Issue citations accurately and efficiently using handheld devices.
- Respond to public inquiries and provide information regarding parking regulations.
- Assist with traffic control during special events or emergencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports of daily activities.
- Ensure the integrity of parking spaces, meters, and signage.
- Collaborate with other city departments and law enforcement as required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Iowa State Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for public interaction.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and report generation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving capabilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service or public interaction roles.
- Familiarity with Cedar Rapids city geography and parking ordinances.
