Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomist to join our dedicated healthcare team in Fort Worth, TX. This is a full-time, on-site position for individuals passionate about patient care and clinical accuracy. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures with precision, ensuring patient comfort, and adhering to all safety and compliance protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, arterial, and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
- Maintain strict adherence to established policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and quality assurance.
- Prepare specimens for transport and testing, ensuring appropriate storage and documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring patient comfort and addressing any concerns before, during, and after specimen collection.
- Accurately document all collection activities, including time, date, and any special instructions or complications.
- Manage and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and availability.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient status and specimen collection.
- Assist with training and mentoring new phlebotomy staff as needed.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain competency and stay current with best practices.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of recent, hands-on phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting (hospital, lab, or clinic).
- Current Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT) is required.
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for various patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and labeling.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related scientific field.
- Experience with point-of-care testing.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., English/Spanish).
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
